Lakota West Cross Country: Boys & Girls Claim Eaton Invitational Titles

The Lakota West Cross Country Teams traveled to Fort St. Clair Park for the picturesque 48th Annual Eaton Cross Country Invitational. All four teams brought home team trophies.
The girls Varsity team finished in 1st place with 29 points as they easily outdistanced Princeton who finished in 2nd place with 48 points. Senior Hannah Riesenberg once again led the way finishing 2nd overall with a time of 20:58. Lexi Iles finished 2nd as she competed in her first race of the season and turned in a solid time of (22:24). Americus Land (23:13), Audry Rust (23:21), and Katelyn Benoit (23:23), also scored for West. Gwyn Barnholtz, Kassie Martin, Anna Huston, and Olivia Risner rounded out a strong pack that placed nine runners in the top 20.
The boys varsity team led by Senior Alex Kelker (16:54) rolled to an easy 1st place finish as they scored a low 23 points leaving second place Hamilton Ross behind. Zach Beneteau (17:22), Cole Cronk (17:56), Tyler Kovac (18:13), and Hunter Levett (18:20) rounded out the scoring for West. Carter Rust, John Doyle, Zach Plotkin, Tony Amsbaugh, Prahb Singh, and Ethan Vaught also ran well as West placed 11 runners in the top 20 overall.
The JV girls finished 2nd to D3 powerhouse Fort Loramie who is ranked 2nd in the State. Morgan Swensgard finished first for the Firebirds and 11th overall. Aly Bernat, Rebecca Yardy, Sarah Robertson, and Miah Howard also scored for West.
The JV Boys also dominated the field as they scored a low 23 points as they ran away from the field. Cincinnati Summit Country Day finished in 2nd place with 79 points. Kyle Bonk finished 2nd overall with a time of 19:19. Kenny Bush, Kieran Quebman, Anitvir Taunque, and AJ Shumacher rounded out the scoring for the Firebirds.

Next week the teams will be back in action Saturday as they head to Miami University for the Red Hawk Rumble.
