Striley & Glosson Break Two Oldest Lakota West Swim Records!
Paige Striley set a new Lakota school district record for the 50-yard freestyle event. Her record-setting mark came at the Canton Christmas Invitational meet where she finished fourth competing against swimmers from 40+ other Ohio Schools. She was timed at 24.32 seconds to surpass the previous 50 free record that had been established by Katie Severson in 2000. Severson’s record had stood for eighteen years. It was one of the oldest records in the annals of Lakota swimming and was the second oldest record in the Lakota West book.
Later in the meet, Grace Glosson broke the oldest Lakota West record, the 100-yard backstroke mark of 58.86. This long standing time was posted by Kelley O’Hara in 1998. Glosson covered the distance in 58.56 in the preliminaries. She later finished 6th in the Christmas Invitational finals.
