Lakota West Soccer: Brooke Brockman Commits to Cleveland State University!
Junior Brooke Brockman (’21), daughter of Gary and Terri Brockman, has verbally committed to play soccer and continue her education at Cleveland State University.
1. What led you to your decision to attend your chosen college?
I choose CSU because they have the major that I’m interested in.
I also fell in love with the campus and the coaching staff! I loved how the coaching staff makes you feel like family. They have so many team functions outside of soccer including community service. They value the whole person, not just the player. They coach you to become better both on and off the field.
2. What other schools did you consider?
I considered Ball State University, Southern Indiana University, and The University of Tennessee.
3. Do you know what you want to study?
I want to study Special Education.
4. When did this school come into the picture?
CSU came into the picture my 8th grade year when they saw me play at the Disney ESPN showcase.
5. Have you visited the school? If so, when? How did it go?
Yes, I have visited CSU multiple times to participate in their ID camps. My first time was the summer between my freshman and sophomore year and my most recent visit was the summer between sophomore and junior year. All my visits have been amazing. I love it more and more each time I’m there.
6. Did anyone help you through the recruiting process? What kind of help did they provide?
My parents and coaches were the ones who helped through my recruiting process. My coaches provided a communication system to be able to talk to my college coach because we were not able to speak directly until this school year. My parents have been a huge support system and have guided me through the whole process.
7. What are your strengths?
I believe some of my strengths are my physicality, aggressiveness, understanding of the game, and competitiveness.
8. What do you think you need to improve before starting college?
I believe that there is room for improvement everywhere. I can always be working on bettering myself and my skills.
9. Please list any special awards, accomplishments or distinctions you may have earned:
- GMC all academic
- GMC second team
- Member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB)
- Multi-sport athlete
