Lakota West girls and boys teams both took to the track Friday, May 10th for the GMC finals.  It was a day to remember for the Track squad as the boys matched their highest finish in the GMC meet with a 2ndplace finish.  The boys team was led by a strong senior group: Alex Kelker, JJ Ross, Jalen Swanson, Dylan Jones, Nick Hjort, Mitchell Marshall, and DJ Robinson.  The underclassmen brought it as well, Julian Wagner finished 3rd in the 100m, 1st in the 200m and was the anchor of the winning 4×100 team.  Julian was also named GMC runner of the year on the boys side.  Malcolm Rencher continued his year of dominance by securing the 2nd place finish in the long jump and ran the 3rd leg of the winning 4×100 squad.  Jacob Kieffer and Ben Arthur helped pace Lakota West in the throwing events.  Matt Levenson and Zane Brewer each scored in the pole vault.  Nick Hjort and rookie Stephen Chitwood paced the boys hurdle crew.  The Lady Firebirds also had a strong showing against a very strong field of teams.  Annika Kinley, Ayana Johnson, and Megan Motolik each scored in the jumping events.  Lexi Iles had a solid night for the distance crew.  The Lakota West Girls Sprint Team scored in each of their relays.  Bryana Henderson, Chance Gray, Elsy Prempeh, Anna Szczepaniak, Teagan Foreman, Dallas Brooks each contributed to the sprint team.  Kylie Dilley, Grace Titus, and Megan Motolik each scored for the hurdle crew.  The West Lady vaulters Kate Telles and Grace Hicks also scored valuable points.  The Girls and Boys are back in action this week at Ross Wednesday and Friday for the District Meet.
