Junior Maddie Prohaska (’21), daughter of Tom and Melissa Prohaska, has verbally committed to play soccer and continue her education at Auburn University.

1. What led you to your decision to attend your chosen college?  What led me to choose Auburn as my future college is the beautiful campus and how it makes me feel at home. I love the atmosphere and competition the SEC soccer brings, being one of the best conferences in the country. I also love the coaching staff and think they will get me where I want to be as a soccer player and person.

2. What other schools did you consider?  Other schools I considered and were in my top 6 were Ohio State University, University of Tennessee, University of South Carolina, University of Notre Dame and Vanderbilt University.

3. Do you know what you want to study?  I am not sure what I want to major in yet, but I do know I want to minor in Spanish. Eventually, my goal after soccer is to become a coach, I want to help kids achieve their potential as my coaches have for me.

4. When did this school come into the picture?  Auburn came into the picture the summer going into Freshman year.

5. Have you visited the school? If so, when? How did it go?  I have visited Auburn 6 times. All times went amazing and I continue to fall in love with it every time I go back.

6. Did anyone help you through the recruiting process? What kind of help did they provide?  My club coaches helped me through the recruiting process and helped me talk with different schools. My mom though was the biggest help, she gave me clarity and ultimately made the recruiting process enjoyable and fun when some people say it’s stressful. My sister helped on a different aspect after already being through the recruiting process herself.

7. What are your strengths?  My biggest strengths as a goalkeeper are my communication, playing with my feet, and the ability to read the play. With these three things, I help prevent the ball from getting down toward my goal or having to make saves with my hands.

8. What do you think you need to improve before starting college?  Some things I need to improve on before college is extending my range. So being able to get the lower 90 dive to save. Also continuing to increase fitness level because in the game of soccer you can never be fit enough. Lastly work on corners and crosses, being able to read them and catch them at the highest point.

9. Please list any special awards, accomplishments or distinctions you may have earned:  National Team Camp

Achievements:
ODP national camp
2017 National runner-up
USA soccer DA Midwest regional team
Top drawer ranked top 11 goalkeepers in the country

Congrats Maddie! #WestPride
